KATHY ROZEK (ASTTBC) RETIRES!

Surrey, British Columbia - We received the news of Kathy Rozek’s retirement plans at the end of January 2014 with mixed feelings.  Sadness at her departure, and happiness over the fact that she’s going to be enjoying the finer things in life.  We wish you well, Kathy!  You’re going to be a tough act to follow!

THE SEARCH IS ON FOR ASTTBC FIRE PROTECTION TECHNICIAN REGISTRATION MANAGER & COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Surrey, British Columbia – ASTTBC has launched a recruitment drive to replace Brian Stegavig, the formal Manager of Fire Protection Technician Registration.  They have also decided to split the two major components of Brian’s previous position into two separate and distinct offices:  Registration and Compliance.  For the time being, Charles Joyner is fulfilling Mr. Stegavig’s former duties pending the successful fulfillment of the two new postions.  We wish them well.

WINDOWS XP SUNSET SET FOR APRIL, 2014

Redmond, Washington – Microsoft ® has announced its intention to end support for Windows XP SP-3 in April of this year.  What this means is that thousands of technician laptops that employ this operating system will continue to function without the necessary updates or support from Microsoft.  I happen to know of one manufacturer that still maintains a Windows 95 machine because the downloading software for the subject control panel won’t run on any other platform.  A number of programs will run successfully on Windows Vista ™ and if you need help to migrate your system over, give us a call!
